Authority:
The President is elected pursuant to Article IV(3) of the PAR-BC by-laws.
Term:
Under authority of Article V(6) of the by-laws the President will be elected annually and hold office until he/she dies, resigns, is removed, is disqualified, or until his/her successor is elected and takes office.
Authority:
- Under authority of Article V(14) of the by-laws the President presides over meetings of the association.
- Under authority of Article XII(1) of the by-laws all documents requiring execution on behalf of the Association shall be signed by the President.
- Under authority of Article XI(3) of the by-laws the President is one of the PAR signing officers for purposes of cheques drawn on the association's account.
- The President is the chief spokesperson for the Association.
- The President is responsible for monitoring the performance of the board and program representatives council to ensure they are performing effectively. This involves monitoring attendance at board meetings and follow-up to ensure members are not experiencing problems, monitoring the effectiveness of the liaison connection between members of the board and the program representatives council, planning the content of the quarterly program representatives council meetings.
- The President is an ex officio member of the PAR negotiating committee.
- The President is the PAR representative or can delegate the PAR representative to the BCMA Board of Directors.
- The President is the PAR representative or can delegate the PAR representative to the CAIR Board of Directors.
- The President is responsible for an ongoing summary of the of the Association's activities
