Program Representatives Council

Authority

The Program Representatives Council is elected or appointed pursuant to Article IV(1) of the by-laws.

Term

Under Article VI(6) of the by-laws each member of the program representatives council (PRC) shall be elected annually and each shall hold office until he/she dies, resigns, is removed, is disqualified, or until his/her successor is elected and takes office.

Responsibilities

  • The PRC will meet quarterly.
  • No member of the PRC shall act in a manner that is arbitrary, discriminatory, negligent or in bad faith in the representation of a member of the association or its policies. [Article VI(15) of the by-laws]
  • A program representative shall use appropriate discretion with respect to matters disclosed to them in the course of their duties, and shall maintain appropriate confidentiality with respect to Association matters where disclosure may harm the interests of the members. [Article VI(16) of the by-laws]
  • Every program representative is expected to serve on at least one board standing committee or on task forces or ad hoc committees set up to deal with special situations.
  • Each program representative shall liaise with the general membership.
  • PRC members will perform the functions of shop stewards.
  • The PRC is responsible for helping identify potential committee members.
