1. What is a collective agreement?

A collective agreement is a legally binding document between the employer and trade union, which establishes rates of pay, hours of work, benefits and other conditions of employment. Review the current agreement here.

 

2. What is a grievance?

A grievance is the formal dispute resolution mechanism used for resolving disagreements over interpretation or non-compliance of the collective agreement. Review Article 3 of the agreement for more information on the process.

 

3. What is arbitration?

When disputes cannot be settled through the grievance process they are submitted to an arbitrator, which is a neutral thrid party, for a final and binding decision. For more information review Article 4 of the current collective agreement.
